Bob Drake to offer steel reproduction 1940 Ford bodies
Grants Pass, Oregon, is a long way from Dearborn, Michigan, but the two cities will soon share a common bond.
Where the latter, the home of the Ford Motor Company, last stamped a body panel for the 1940 Ford 70 years ago, Bob Drake Reproductions, located in Grants Pass, is currently tooling up to reproduce the 1940 Ford, calling the effort “The greatest manufacturing feat in early Ford parts.”
As announced in the company’s most recent catalog, Bob Drake Reproductions is currently signing up potential customers for all-steel 1940 Ford five-window coupe bodies that should start rolling off the assembly lines in late summer or early fall.
While not the first steel Ford reproduction bodies — Brookville’s Model A and 1932 Ford, along with SAR’s 1933-1934 Fords, have already become well established among hot rodders and street rodders looking for raw material — Drake’s 1940 Ford is unusual in that it is first being offered as a coupe rather than as a convertible.

Drake wants $3600. for the floor pans ,rockers and a trunk lid. We want a whole, running car for around$18000. thats a easonable “market’ price for a driver that needs finishing.
