“working The Archives” here today …connecting the dots…Storm King mentioned this in a post
” New Windsor/ Newburgh resident had a car on display at “Big Daddy’s” for some time. Peter Poli lived right on 9W just as you got to the big cemetary on the west side of 9W. He had an original Red ’68 Hemi Coronet R/T he occasionally ran. He was a knife sharpener by trade; the car was called “El Cortello” (The Knife) it only had a few thousand original miles, was absolutely babied.”
AND Here’s a a shot recieved recently from Brian of Joe RUNNING “The Knife” at Dover ..Brian and I are going to send “BIG” a blow-up of it… And I’ve got a shot of the “Knife” someplace At Big’s Museum…I’m looking …funny how things relate…Oh-Joe Beat him on this run…May 1969:

“More about the “Raider”. After I had my first Duster painted, Beltempo took the Raider there to be re-painted. It was candy apple red, just gorgeous. Joe was going to have it done black with copper flake scallops if I recall. The painter never finished it, and it sat outside rusting for about a year. I actually tried to do a deal with Joe, to run it in 71. Wasn’t interested. Joe sold it to John Boss, who ran a gas station on Broadway in Newburgh. He painted it green. Don’t know if he ever did anything except street race it. What do you know of it after it left your cousins hands?”
Latest on Forum…”joeyb” guess Who?
Wow, thats a Dodge Coronet not a Charger, you would think of all places the Don Garlits museum would have put the right sign up.
