Mator,we never ‘assumed’ our cars back then would ever be worth that kinda money today;they were mainly our ‘daily-drivers’.One good thing came out of this all; thank goodness for car shows, and nostalgia drag events we have nowadays, still going strong! When attending one,we can ‘reminisce’,looking at ‘similar’ rides we once were ‘lucky’ to own back then.Count our blessings I guess,we once owned one or more of these ‘classics’!

Lets here some more “worst move I made selling a car”…Remember another of mine…My 56 Ford hard top convertable ( No side posts when front & rear windows down.) Fiberglass front fenders…bored out 428 to 433 c.i. by Richie Mattoni Pro Machine. Built at Automobile Shop while I was working there. Input from Willie Hormente, Lee Valentine And Bill Davit.Big rear-4-speed..double pumper Holley. It was Fast! “liqidated’ it with other possessions before the first wife could get to it….in our ‘separation’. I sold it to some guys in Norwalk, who pulled the motor and junked the body.Word had it ,the motor was put in a street racer Mustang. The body was seen on the scrap pile at LaJoies Auto Wrecking.Don’t have one picture of it…..So whats Your Story?

Boy Dino, that’s a hard one to answer! I enjoyed them all! I’ll pick out one for now. Having ‘4” Vettes ( 63 to 65), I’d have to pick my 64 red coupe. It had all the options, 327 cu. in. 365 hp. After a few years,as a winter project, I built a 327-250 hp (balanced and blueprinted) for it. this was in ’71-72’. I wanted a ‘dual’ purpose car to run the drags and street. I also put a 373 ratio rear ( I got from Billy Milano). I ran it in H/Stock. It had ‘knock-off’ factory wheels ( no hub caps to remove at the drags). It also had a blow proof belhousing and clutch, and all new u joints. Won a ‘few’ trophy’s with it,and lots of fun driving, with low maintenance. In ’73’,put the 365hp back in and sold it for $ 1400.00 dollars ( I know what your thinking!) It’s still alive today as a summer cruiser, owned by a retired Kingston cop named Mike Jubie.
