Really excited about this…let me set you up. Lot of “Vintage” Rod, Drag and Speed Shop shirt designs have been cropping up in the last few years. All computer graphics program generated. Now first …I like and appreciate the work of some very talented Artists, who do capture the look and feel of the period. Then there’s reproductions being made of actual early and mid sixties (Even fifties) of what was done back then. With this project, I tried to design a shirt ‘That Never Existed” But make it look like a reproduction of How they did it back then,and what It might have looked like, If in fact ,Chet & Joe had gotten them printed. So No computers or point & click fonts back then. You had to use press type or HAND DRAW everything ,to make a film positive and ‘burn’ your Screen to print the shirt. I figure they would have said” Copy the Entrance Sign” ….So that’s what I did. I hand drew the Rail and the lettering in two color format. To refresh your memory…Heres the first entrance Sign.Took some artistic ‘license’ to fudge up some stuff and futher make it look even more authentic…’how it would have been set -up’ by …Who knows? “New Milford Screen Printing & Embroidery”?…remember…it was 1961. Then theres all the other sign designs that followed, mostly redone by me. One of the last ones is what I based the Nostalgia Drags Logo on …but thats another subject:

And Here’s working draft ….working from the old sign. These shirts Will be ‘debuted’ at the Race,and got some XXL and XXXL for the Full figured guys …after that,we”ll always have them at the Store Page..Now we have all eras…Early and late 60’s. ALSO …Thnking about a Decal of this ? what ya think?

Remember …We have a broad range of Dover Vets ,starting in ’61.Many raced Before that at Montgomery,and Sanford ,Orange …So the Older Guys and those that find the ’69’ logo a little too ‘modern’, will definatly relate to this. It’s supposed to go with that ‘pre-1964’ ….transition period in rodding & racing.

Only in the South…Just had a guy pull up with A 70 blown Nova in trailer ,going to Super Chevy at Rockingham this weekend and gets me to do some quick lettering…spied the ‘Retro 61″ shirt and he ‘Has to Have it’ ! .
