Kenneth Shafer(1949 – 2010) Hyde Park –
Kenneth Lewis Shafer Jr., 63, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 24, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie.
Born September 23, 1949 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Kenneth Lewis Shafer Sr. and Inez B. Eignor Shafer. Mrs. Shafer survives in Hyde Park.
Ken was a graduate of F. D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, and attended Dutchess Community College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
At one time, he played horn with the former Poughkeepsie Pacers Drum Corp.
Ken loved cars and was an excellent mechanic. He built his dream garage at home, and used to race at the former Dover Drag Strip.
