NETO Race 7 at Cecil County Dragway, Rising Sun Md., was completed yesterday. This was our first trip to Cecil County as a club. All who attended agreed that this was a first class venue and an excellent nostalgia show, and all are in favor of returning next year. Despite stormy weather all day Friday, and clouds and a forecast of scattered showers Saturday there was an abundance of cars and spectators at the race Saturday. The race was perhaps the most efficiently run race we have attended. It was a real pleasure to race in front of over one thousand spectators as they filled the stands and lined the fence. Next year without the weather problems, and with the knowledge of how fast the track is, and how well they run the race, we should expect more racers to attend.
Fifteen racers attended this race. Ten Comp cars and five Nostalgia cars. At the end of the day Jim Mullen in his beautiful and fast Chevy Vega won Comp eliminator over Mark Finkle in his injected Camaro. In Nostalgia eliminator Roger Wright thrilled the Mopar fans by taking the win in his beautifully restored Dodge Challenger. Don Kalina in his 1955 Chevy handyman wagon was runner up.
It was a great day of racing, at a great venue. A day that gave the club great exposure to a great many fans.
