Yeah, Chick was quite a guy. He had a HUGE fan club.
I remember many a Saturday night at the Danbury Fair
Grounds watching Chick kick ass with his #151 coupe.
He will forever be remembered !!! I was honored to be
parked next to him and his restored race car at the
Southbury Car Show a few years ago. “Rest in Peace Chick”.

Chick was a good racer, and a nice guy. When I was younger, my Dad and I would go to Danbury once in a while to watch the races. We liked Chick, Billy Boo, Don La Joie(sp), Joe Campanella, and several others. RIP Chick.

Danbury Racearena……..Use to go there back in the 50’s. Back before small blocks. Back in the days of flatheads, straight sixes and eights, snow tires on three wheels and a little tire on the left front, a chain around the door pillars to keep them shut. As I remember, ticket windows opened at 5:00, gates opened at 5:30. Hundreds of fans would run, literally run, to get to their favorite seat on the front straight. Place was always packed. I liked to sit over at turn 4, a good view of the pits and the track entrance. Before every heat cars had to pass a rudimentary inspection. Cars had to touch the hanging tennis balls, then speed up and slam on the brakes. If your car was not too low and all 4 wheels had working brakes, you were good. One class, that’s it, one class. Must have been 50-60 cars would show up all looking for a spot in the feature. Great memories, a great place. There were many princes at the Racearena, but Chick was the King
