Race 2 was held on Saturday May 9 at Lebanon Valley Dragway. Twenty six racers participated on a sunny and unseasonably hot Spring day. The race was sponsored by Putnam Radiator.
In Comp eliminator, John Giambertone was the winner with a 9.83 on a 9.75 dial over Tony Supino with a 8.31 on a 8.25 dial. It was a good race and it was good to see Tony Supino back in action.
In Nostalgia eliminator, new member Wayne Farquhar, in a 1969 chevelle was the winner over Gerry Ingersoll and his 67 Comet. Gerry was unable to make the final round with mechanical difficulties, so Wayne just broke the beam for the win. Congratulations Wayne for your win in your first NETO race.
Because of the success of the pilot 10.0 Index race we ran another one at Lebanon Valley. Our plan now is to try and run a limited number of these races the rest of the season. We will post the tentative schedule soon. Note that all of these races will be dependent upon having at least four competitors, and will be cancelled if there are insufficient competitors.. Accordingly, as discussed at the annual meeting, any 10.0 index participants will have their points accumulate in their normal category, Comp or Nostalgia.
In Saturday’s 10.0 Index race we had five participants. The index racers two time trials serve as “qualifying” rune in order to build a ladder.
The qualifying order was:

2. Guy Johnson 10.080
3. Jody Kenly 10.088
4. Angelo Sclafani 10.10
5. Scott Thorpe 10.18
Also thanks to Don Hart and Vic Javinett who would have run the 10.0 index if their Nostalgia time trial were fast enough.
Jody Kenly won the 10.0 index race for the second time in a row. Jody clocked a 10.10 on a single run when opponent Guy Johnson was unable to make the final round.
