New Milford man dies in car crash

NEW MILFORD – A man was killed late Wednesday along Second Hill Road, authorities said, after his car hit a tree on the side of the roadway.
According to police, Joseph K. Sciacca, 64, of New Milford, was traveling along the road shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday when he lost control of his 1999 Ford Ranger while navigating around a sharp left-hand turn.
Police said the car left the roadway and slammed into a tree. The pickup was the only car involved in the accident. Sciaccia showed no signs of life after being removed from the car and was given CPR before being sent to Danbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
According to public records, Sciacca had previously lived in Westchester County before moving to Connecticut around 20 years ago.
The police department’s accident reconstruction team was sent to the scene to further investigate the accident. Anyone with information is being asked to call officer Raymond White at 860-355-3133.

“Michelle, Lauren, Sue & the rest of the Sciacca family. Please accept my condolences and deepest sympathy in the loss of our finest and one of my best friends of all time. Many know that Joe and I were buddies for decades. We had many good years as partners in the record breaking Camaro running out of Fred’s Speed Shop located in Yonkers, N.Y. Joe also ran close to NHRA record with his Nova and Camaro running the Fred’s Speed Shop banner. Joe was a great guy and will be remembered and missed by all. Joe will be with his and my other buddies, Tom Iorizzo, Jim Bellino, Bob Lagana, Billy Casey and Bob Casey will all RIP in Hot Rod Heaven”.

No one could say it any better than Fred did. My condolences goes out to Fred for the loss of his
long time friend and partner. They truly loved each others friendship. My deepest sympathy to
the Sciacca family and close friends. A very sad time for all that knew Joe….R.I.P….
