Wow,
Great photos Clark.
Regards from New York
Andy Panessa
Don’t ya love the fact that there’s a month and year ….Cool …
To Plain Busted: Thanks for the kind words, Andy! My regret is that I have only a few more and that I didn’t take my camera everytime I went because I missed some great cars and action! I told my tale this past Sunday in the New Members section. I’m going to have to go there and read other’s intros to catchup! Again glad the photos gave some memories back, Clark.
To Papasmurf: Glad you liked them and there are a few more as I just mentioned to Andy! Hope they gave the old memory cells a pleasant jolt. Little time capsules back to the golden age! I’ve got catching up to do too with all you members! Take care, Clark. BTW: the month and date on the photos is when they were originally developed, but anyone here old as me remembers that-LOL! The one good thing is that they give me a reference point!
The Wyllis was known as the “Mystery Wyllis” and was owned by Al De Angeles of Fairifeld Ct. It used to pull some wild wheel stands off the line considering it was only a 301 Chevy. The Mongoose was owned by his brother-in-law, Al Bowes, who held a NHRA record at one point. Al Bowes passed away a few years ago after suffering from head injuries from a motorcycle accident he incurred years before.
Al Baran
Who was it that had the Mongoose Corvette? i think that car was a nat’l record holder. he ran my brother one of the only two weekends we had the “Storm King 2” at Dover in ’68, and once Bill got out on him, he kept easing into and back out of the throttle so he wouldn’t bomb the index. The guy with the ‘Vette was a bit angry because it was pretty obvious Bill was just toying with him. He said he’d of rather we just ran away with it, but of course we didin’t want to run too fast. That was just when drag racing started to become one big bracket race, with indexes and factors.
To Albaran & Storm King: Hey guys, many thanks from me for the great info on some of the cars! This was one of the reasons I had the pics posted so I and others could get and share any info! Hope they’ve given some good memories with more to come! Thanks, Clark.
Stormy..He just said Al Bowes And It was a Record holder …Bill woudn’t “play” ..now would he . Clark …expect more ! and look for more ???
Dino: Did send you a few more called “Pro cars”; didn’t get them, Clark?

Great picture of the D and E …Doyle and Ecstrom Willys…..That is the Willys George Laurie has now….and those wheels might have been from the hearse….I have the rears in my possesion for the hearse….and George believes he has the fronts…but not sure if they are off the hearse for shure…..tuff to confirm…..but we try
Hi Guys: Sorry I’ve been missing in action for so long! Been doing the tax thing and other issues, but thanks again for all the positive comments and just to let you know, there are still some more pics so this is not all there is! Will shortly be sending some to Dino (thanks as always) so they can be shared, hopefully enjoyed and just maybe jog a memory or two!
Long live Dover and the great memories, Clark.
