Grew up in Rhinebeck, New York, graduated high school in ’60. Many fond memories of Dover Drag Strip, the first track I ever went to as a spectator and then as a racer. I was enjoying the site yesterday and saw the track booklet and was just blown away that it was the edition that shows the very first drag racing trophy I ever won as a kid! There it is , “J. Linville G/S”. My old man’s Falcon ranchero beating a volkswagen and a covair. No big shakes but the start of a long life of hot rods and nostalgia drag racing. Thanks Dino for all the effort to keep this flame alive!
I will post, as soon as I figure it out, a patch I bought at Thompson Raceway fall swapmeet years ago. It is an embroidered 9″ by 4″ oval, red AA/FD with the car number 101, white background and black lettering “Dover Drag Strip” across the top and “Wingdale, New York” on the bottom. I have it sewn on my “flea market” jacket.
