Four door to boot! I remember that car. Was it (Ugh) Chevy powered?
Drake’s Memories If Dick Crawford…..”was the premier hot rod-drag race car builder(front to back…top to bottom)……Dick (“Big”) to us “intimates”…could do it all.”…”Big”…wasn’t only just in on the build of Roy Hanshee’s “MR. TOAD” falcon wagon…he done it all…wuz’ a proverbial…”work of art” for the times…but Roy’s cash “flow”…dried up…right after they broke the 10,000 rpm smallblock Chevrolet…and alas…the “Toad” never saw it’s true potential…”Big” had 3-4 small children at the time…fresh home/mortgage…so he readily wanted to race…just at that moment not able to “field” his own car. …he worked at his house…also had a shop right across from the Powertest on rte 52…Crawford Automotive…I wuz very influenced by Big …as I believe were many others in the early years…he helped-guided us right up to our altered wheelbase falcon…then for him…the cars weren’t home-built anymore (no back-yard “ingenuity” )…and Big really didn’t have much interest…I lost touch with Big years ago.’
😀 😀 😀 Hey…last I knew…Roy…married a very pretty gal…Joyce Brady from Brewster…they moved to Arizona…”Big”…I heard got a divorce…rest is up to you…detective… 😆 😆 😆 Drake
Roy just checked in as our latest ODF ….Arizona correct-Scottsdale.
Roy should look up Bill Kolb. He’s a part time Scottsdale resident. 😀 He even has Tasca 2 hanging out there when NHRA races in Arizona. 😎
