Oh Yeah! One of the oldest AND still operating Speed Shops in the Whole COUNTRY ! located on the famous “Cruisin’ strip of the Berlin Turnpike in Newington.Ct. Owner Don Gallant has the distinction of Being at Dover Opening Day with his famous “Gold Rush” roadster. You can see it in the background of the Actual Dover Opening day Program Cover, depicted on our History page. There she is in the Staging Lanes ! IT is the oldest documented Street Rod in Conn. Now …Hows THIS…..Don and son Paul are BRINGING it the Danbury Reunion ! .Still running strong…Paul relates ,they even had to de-tune it, to go street cruisin. Don had some older sons …but the youngest Paul and him operate the shop, still doing what they always have. Video Bob made the contact there today in his rounds and logged in to show him DDS.com —they Didn’t know about . Quote ” HEY ,theres my car !’ Then V-Bob gave them a tour of the ODF Galleries….and he saw all his old cars.
More just in…Paul said ,although they are at the same location …the original shop suffered a fire in 2003 ,and they moved the business into the rear warehouse. His old Dragin-Runs Jacket is still hanging on the wall. 😯 Video Bob was given the tour of the Attic (He likes Attics) and “upstairs …is loaded with all kinds off “old Skool” parts…injection manifolds ,superchargers and what Bob said was some pretty remarkable stuff. V-Bob was so impressed, he’s planning a return visit ,with all his camera Equipment so we can all have a ‘walk-through” video tour …how awesome is That! 😎
Just Sent the ‘Don’s Crew ‘…Reunion And Drags info …Paul will be getting some cool photos together for us also.
Watch For Don And Paul to pull into Reunion With the Dover original roadster !
