200 plus runs at Dover …REMEMBER ?

😀 😀 😀 Hey this is gonna’ take a lil’ “thought”…we never ran 200 @ Dover…did run 185-6 regularly…with the injected nitro FC (s)…which is what we ran most everwhere else…ran 189 in ’75-76 there (Dover) with the blown Alcohol car (s)…same most everywhere else…E-town,Ct. Dragway,Atco,M-Grove,Cecil,Island too…Richie & Gil ran 204 with the dual engine car…the day they crashed it at Dover…they really were the the only regular guys to hit the number a few times 😆 😆 😆 by 70’s pretty sure the TF shows & Blown Nitro FC’s were running 200 plus @ Dover…gotta’ put the “thinkin” cap on to remember… 😆 😆 😆 by end of 70’s we…with much better pieces available could run 200…now & then with the Alcohol FC…but Dover was a “memory” by then…Gene,Victor,Anthony…Antonne,Chuck Sabis, Richie & Gil,probably have a better “handle” on this as well…will see if the memory bank can avail some “names”…that I know/remember there…soon…I hope…like Celine Dion…”it’s all coming back to me…now!!!” 😆 😆 😆 Drake…p.s….200 mph back then…was like 300 mph now 😆 😆 😆 with “stuff” you might want not to go nearly that fast (technology/safety wise) with…today!!! 😆 😆 :lol:…did go 6.40’s-50’s @ 215-218 mph (best ever 6.39 @220)…”often” in Southern Winter Series…in the X-Shirl Greer (NHRA World Champion)- Dennis Lockaby (NHRA Division 2 points Champ) Mustang ll AA/FC (back…back…back…way back!!! 😆 😆 😆 )…which we bought for our European pal…and current Top Fuel racer… European-Hall Of Famer…Rune Fjeld…got a handle on it…for a series of Funny Cars… owned/raced by him…before his moving over to Top Fuel 😀 😀 😀 this “life” been…sumptin’…the longtime “smell” of nitro…in the morning…”yikes”… really seems like just yesterday (not…30-plus years ago!) 😆 😆 😆
