Did New Jersey change the law that you had to be 18 to get in the pits? I remember sneaking in my brother because he was underage, he had to hang out by the truck to keep from getting sent to the spectator side. I also remember when 16 year old Hank Taylor was cleaning up in S/SA , must have been in 66. He couldn’t race in NJ because they wouldn’t let him in the pits

Hey Bill today I was in Montgomery N.y. went by a place called Storm King contracting is that your buisness?
NJ changed the law sometime after 66. I went to Island when Garlets set the record at 200 it was 64 and I watched from the spectator side then I found a trunk to get in the pits. At Englishtown when they first opened the asked Jack Merkel to bring all the cars from his shop (like he owned them all) and again I snuck in. Now when I go to the tracks I ask for a senior discount.

Used to go to Civil Air Patrol meetings in Montgomery. That was before we got into racing tho. But no, that’s not our business. We lived in Cornwall, NY back when we were racing. We named the car after Storm King Mountain, which was just south of Cornwall. Actually, the first year we ran the max wedge, it was called the Angry Ram. I copied the Rams head art work out of one of the old $.25 Hot Rod magazines. It was on the front fenders. When I did the 2 tone paint for the 65 season my mother suggested Storm King. My brother & I had a tooling business in Oklahoma called Storm King Tooling, but that was all, & it’s gone too. Would like to take another run at it with a 9second car, but I don’t expect this green, socialist government to allow any of us to do this much longer, call me paranoid.
