Long overdue is a topic on Al Bowes…Heres a recent E-mail we recieved:
Hello Dino,
My name is Lauren Bowes. My father, Al Bowes, used to race his Corvette, the Mongoose, at Dover Drag Strip. (My Uncle Al DeAngelis used to race there too.)
Recently, I was telling a male friend—a real car lover—about my father’s racing and he went on line to discover pictures of my father’s car on your website. This meant so much to me because I lost my Dad in 1989; he was 49. We were very close so he is still sorely missed. Since I was born in 1961, I was pretty young when I went to Dover with my family and watched the races there, but I have many fond memories of the experience.
You wouldn’t be surprised to learn that I’ve been driving a vette since 1985; a car my father bought for me—with a custom two-tone paint job, of course! Just last year I sold the ’85 and got a 2007 black convertible Corvette. Thanks to my Dad, it’s the only car I have eyes for! J
Would it be possible to connect with people who knew my father through your website? I would love so much to hear any stories or memories about him. Cars were his passion!
