…..Heres Maso’s complete Poem:” Casey at the Track”
If I had to describe what Billy meant to me I’d have to say..childhood inspiration. My first memorie was that awesome ’69 Camaro “Super Pumpkin”. I was a young kid in high school going to Dover and have to say his car was all of our favorites. That car made such an impression with me that…fast forward about 33 years, my 70 Chevelle I race now was painted a metallic based on my memorie of that Camaro. I’m glad at the 2009 Drags I got a chance to actually meet and talk to him. Idol, hero, Billy was all that to me. My condolences to his family. When Dover is ever mentioned…Super Pumpkin will always be in my thoughts.

Only being a racer at Dover from ’69 to ’72
I remember Billys ’69 Camaro. I talked to him for my frist time at
the 1st Dover race. He treated everyone like a friend and like he knew you
from the first day at Dover. Rest in peace Billy, you will be missed by everyone who had the
pleasure to make friends with you.
Dino will the be an address for cards to be sent to,

Billy and I were in the same grade at Annunciation School in Crestwood (Yonkers) before he changed to St Eugene’s on Tuckahoe Road. We then reunited year later in Roosevel HS. I remember riding in his black 1950 Ford with Deserie (spelling ?) written on the side. He was a real character who would have fit right into the cast of “Happy Days”. Billy we are gonna miss you.
Attached is a photo of Bill from the 1st grade.

… It was the first time I really talked to Billy at Island for the 1st race on the video that he made at the track , It was nice meeting him after all these years .
Hey V, just think what a nice job he would have done on your Mustang !
I remember him telling me that he cut the wheel wells on his “57 with
hand cutting shears. He had to cut them twice because he discovered
that he had a broken leaf spring on one side, so the wheel wells were not
even. He would tell the story and then start laughing. I’m really going to
miss that laugh !
Frank…
To Billy’s family, we were all saddened to hear about Billy’s passing but we know he is going to heaven
Although we raced together in the early years at Dover we never got to be friends.
Thanks to the Dover site we did communicate before we finally met at the first nostalgia race
He was as friendly and helpful as everyone that knew him said he was.
The first time we met he was offering his help to make my car run better.
I just watched the video Billy and Bobby made again and it sure brings back memories.
We got to talk at the second nostalgia race and I will miss not seeing him again.
God SPEED Billy
I was talkin to a good friend about Billy:
The way this story went, they were at Dover racing their Anglia ,they broke an oil line and couldnt run anymore!
Billy made it to the $$ round but broke the fuel injector pump, this guy lent him his and Billy won $60.
When Billy handed him his pump back he gave him $10 with the still warm fuel pump!!
“Billy Stories”…everybody has one .
I was lickly enough to see and talk to Billy once more at Dover 2010
That alone made the trip worth it.
