Anybody interested, with a ‘fat’ wallet,’Big John’ Mazmanian’s ‘clone’ Willys A/GS is up for sale at $250,000 grand! It was authorized by Big John himself as a clone. Has a 467 cu. in ‘Hemi’ ( a 392 block, bored and stroked) 671 with a Hilborn 4 port, and here’s a ‘kicker’ a set of 1964 M&H slicks! It’s located in Nevada, phone no# (775) 742 4164. Both Big John and Bones have autographed the glove box also!
I took this picture of it just last June in Bowling Green Kentucky, if it’s the same one from Nevada.
That’s the “1” !!! This is me ‘personally’,beautiful Willys, but remember it’s a ‘clone’,not the original. Kinda ‘pricey’! I believe the ‘original’ was destroyed (crashed) in the Detroit area, after the Hill Brothers sold it,and ran a 33 coupe built by Chuck Finders.I think Peter Maples mentioned Joe Triolo, who restored the ‘original’ Stone-Woods-Cook B/GS Willys, turned down an offer for 1.4 million,at the U.S. Nationals! My thoughts,I would have been sitting in a beautiful ‘new’ home, with another Willys in the driveway, and some coins in the bank to boot! But that’s ‘me’! 😆 Pete.
I think it’s BS the he turned down 1.4 mil. he doesn’t own it. He sold it years ago then restored it for the guy. Although there are a lot of “gold chainers” that know nothing but have “big wallets” thats the same car I rode around the pits in with Doug Cooks brother Roy at a Gasser event at NY National speedway. I’ll sell you my pants I wore sitting in the car for $1.40
😆 🙄 🙄 😆 🙄 😮 😮 😮
Pat
Pat,I think your talking about Mike Wales, who Joe sold it to years ago.Mike had an automotive business, down the Jersey shore somewhere, then he got hooked up with those ‘Monster Truck’ series, you see either on t.v. or touring the country; he was one of there mechanics. He moved somewhere in the mid west, and the S.W.C went into storage for many years! Prior to Mike owning it,Joe had made it into a ‘street’ rod, putting a steel 41 nose on it,but kept the original rolled and pleated interior. After ‘many’ years Joe wanted to buy it back from Mike.Mike didn’t want to sell it! Somehow, there was a deal made,Joe would restore it, now here’s the last ‘RUMOR’ I heard, there both now,are silent partners with it (???). I know Joe had one heck of a time, finding ‘period’ correct Olds speed parts for it,which took a while!
Right as usual “Cakes” I was at the Street Rod Nationals East in Timonium MD around mid to late 70’s when I met Joe he was sitting in the car and it was a street rod, as soon as I saw the interior and I believe the roll bar was still in it I knew what car it was. It was still a light blue with some sort of 5 spoke aluminum wheels. My pants are still for sale but worth more now because of the history. 😆 😆 😆
Pat,your a pip! Luv ya guy! I believe Joe bought the S.W.C Willys from the Willys ‘guru,Ron Ladley in Pa. ( I suspect you’ve heard,or even delt with him; he has original ‘classic Willys cars, and sells parts and memorabilia). Ron I believe, bought it from a guy in Texas, that previously worked for Cal Custom fiberglass body parts (that’s what we had on the nose of our Willys gasser, one of there ‘glass’ 4 piece nose, quality made!).Seriously Pat,you were lucky to sit in it,with the ‘original interior! In June 2011, Paul B. had his 34 Willys AA/GS on display at the Foxwood; parked next to him,Joe had the S.W.C restored B/GS,and next to that,Mike Cook (Doug Cook’s son) had the original AA/GS famous Willys!!! Pat,you were very lucky your self,to have some ‘beautiful’ Willys that you built in your lifetime, not to forget brother Mike’s 39 Willys chopped 2dr that’s still in beautiful shape and would love to own!!!
