Hi, my name is Rocky Pirrone…I’ve been around drag racing pretty much my entire life… My Dad Joe Pirrone raced from the 50’s into the 1990’s. I pretty much followed his foot steps. Today, I run a couple of race cars, my favorites are my blown gassers… I’m lucky enough to have three.. My Boss Hydro 33 Willys is a tribute car my crew and I did in honor of my Dad. Its a very accurate recreation of the car he raced in AA/GS supercharged action back in the 1960’s. It utilizes a steel 426 hemi, 6-71 blower, boxed 33 Willys frame and even uses the same 41 Willys steering box along with a 58 Olds rear… My other 33 Willys is a tribute car we built in honor of my good friend and one of my all time heros, K.S. Tiger Pittman.. The 1933 Willys that we recreated is the one that my Dad use to race against back in the 60’s. When we built the K.S. Tribute car we had original chassis builder Chuck Finders assist in the beginning stages. With his assistance we did a very accurate recreation. The K.S. 33 uses a boxed and “pinched” 33 Willys frame. A 60 Pontiac rear and a 392 chrysler hemi for power. Both my 33 Willys run in the low nines and high eights. My Big Time Memories 1941 Willys is a bit more modern, this car was originally built back in the mid 80’s and raced with the Wild Bunch and Hot Rods From Hell circuits. We have gone 7.63 with this car, but since there is no class to run her we detuned her to a low eight second machine… I also run a nostalgia funny car named “Screamin Eagle”, its a 1977 Trans Am that we have gone as quick as 6.36 at 218 mph… Last but not least, we just finished restoring a 1967 Don Long AA/FD that we outfitted with a Fiat competition coupe body… We cackle on 90% nitro… The Comp Coupe is called “Soul Survivor”…… Hopefully, I didn’t bore you with my introduction. Thank you for the welcome! I’m right there with you on the Willy’s “nut”… My all time favorite race cars…hands down! Its good to see so many of these cars coming back to life. Do you have Paul B’s email? I’m trying to set up a 8 car AA/GS show for the Old Time Drags this summer and I would love to have him a part of the show….thanks in advance!

Hi Rocky,

Now that it looks like Spring may come after all, im starting to think about racing!! Im gonna just hit a few Nostalgia events this year, not really sure which ones and where quite yet, just have a little fun is all, Look forward to seeing you guys at the track, maybe we can run the against BTM machine again!!
