Thinking back to my Trip north to the race….”Just for OldTimes” when I left Marty’s Friday to head to the track ,I did a little tour.Crossed the Hudson from Kingston and headed south on Taconic (Miss the Northeast Trees & Mountains).Went south to Rt 52 and then North on 22.Just like going to Dover in the old Days.Things sure have changed. As Roxrec would say ,”you can’t make this stuff up”.I get to Wingdale, there’s a Sign…Not “Town Of Dover” …it Says “CELEBRATE DOVER “…thats what we were about to do. I hit Big Als ,Visit Bob Casey to record commercials ,and head on up 22 to the Valley. When I get to the Hotel. I hop in the elevator. The tag on the wall says who built it…the lable says ‘DOVER”. So after the race ,I head south on rt.22 to hook up with I-684 .Decided to take the Tappen Zee this time. Getting Hungery, and not wanting junk fast food,I look for some grub.Almost to Brewster, I remember good ole “Bob’s Diner” Could it still be there? .Pull down Main St. and there it is.The place to chow down after a hard night at the Aft. Same old place -time warp …it hasn’t changed since the fifties. same ol wobbely counter stools. But Food still Great.Had to buy a T-Shirt. ….
