Dover sure had some interesting Altereds in it’s day. 😎
It has a very high center of gravity… That could tip over very easily… I hope not.

Louie’s on the Forum ! “Henry the 8th” user name !
I remember Tony Schorr from Schorr Automotive in Hartsdale, Ny. I used to sell to him when I was at Cook Ford in Scarsdale. I think he had a very competitive 55 Chev Jr stock wagon also. Very nice guy, I wonder where he ended up.
DINO THAT IS THE RIGHT CLASS ON THE TIRE. WHEN RUNNING ANY OTHER FUEL OTHER THEN GAS, BACK IN THOSE DAYS YOU RAN AA/FA . THE LAST YEAR OF RACING I RAN ALCOHOL. BOTH DOVER AND NATIONAL DIDN’T HAVE A CLASS FOR FUEL BURNING ALTERED’S OTHER THEN AA/FA . I REMEMBER DOWN AT NATIONAL, RUNNING AGAINST THOSE BIG BLOCK ALTERED’S AND DOING A NUMBER ON THEM. THE MOTOR WAS OUT OF BOBBY LAGANA’S CMP WHITE CHEVY WAGON. HE WAS IN PARTNER’S WITH JOHN LEAF AT THE TIME WHEN RUNNING THE WAGON. BOB WAS THE BEST AROUND WHEN IT CAME TO BUILD A SMALL BLOCK MOTORS. BOB BUILT THE ALTERED FOR ME. I SAW BOB ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AT HIS HOME IN EASTCHESTER. WE TALKED OLD TIMES AND IT WAS GOOD TO SEE BOB AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. I SEE BOB AND HIS SON BOBBY JR. ON T.V. ALL THE TIME. BOB’S SON IS RUNNING A TOP FUELER AND IS DOING WELL. GLAD TO SEE THAT HE IS TAKING AFTER HIS FATHER. TO ALL MY FRIENDS FROM THOSE DOVER TIMES, MY WIFE AND I ARE DOING FINE, WE SOLD OUR INN, RETIRED NOW AND DOING A LOT OF TRAVELING. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK DINO WITH THE DOVER SITE. REGARDS LOUIE
Hello Louie and welcome to the Dover Site. I have not seen you in about 41 years or so. The last time I saw you was on a school bus leaving the Selective Service Office in Mt. Vernon going to the Whitehall Street induction center in Manhattan for our pre-induction physical. I guess that was mid to late 1967. Glad to hear you are well and enjoy your retirement.

Walter Hasselmen , just told me this About Lou’s Altered…,” Bobby Lagana built Louie’s Altered. Bobby made him a deal that he would build the car and for pay bobby could eat at his restaurant for a year for free. That’s right from Bobby’s mouth before he died! Louie ran alcohol and nitro in his car that Bobby gave him so back then we both ran A/FA Not AA/FA that was the blown class for fuel. Tony Schorr had a shop just up the street from the corner of Central Ave. (Rt. 100) and Hartsdale Ave in Hartsdale NY. It was a service station for repairs with 3 bays, he also pumped gas. I saw Tony several years ago in a night club in White Plains It was just a brief hello and that was it. I haven’t seen him since. The shop he had is still their but it seems whoever is running it only does NYS inspections and detailing? No gas or repairs anymore. I drive by there almost every day. I’ll stop in and see what’s what.” Tried E-mailing Lou but his E-mail has Changed.
