I hate to be the culture NAZI on a variety of car-related sites, but somebody’s gotta do it.
This is Memorial Day weekend.
It is the day we HONOR those who gave their last full measure of devotion for country and countrymen.
It’s not a day to acknowledge veterans, retirees, wounded, or otherwise.
To do so would diminish the sacrifice our honored dead have made.
Veterans Day is November 11th, party then.
I’d be willing to bet there are those of us on this board who lost friends in Viet Nam, or family in WW2.
This would be a good place to acknowledge them, and a good time to do it.
I wish everyone a pleasant Memorial Day weekend.
Party on, BBQ and beer for all.
But how about raising a glass and saying a few words for those who’ve given up all their three day weekends so we can all continue to enjoy ours?
Bravo, well said!
I’ll second that Bossguy ❗ ❗ ❗
It is the
VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
AMEN,Dino.
Driving back from Lebanon Valley Dragway today I saw so many in the festive, vacation, let’s party mood. Nothing wrong with that but I really wonder how many even think what Monday is about or even care? Maybe being an Army brat and having 35 years @ West Point kind of makes me a little one sided. THANK A VETERAN THIS WEEKEND!
