On Sunday July 26 NETO race 10 was completed at Englishtown’s Raceway Park.
Forty Four racers participated in the race. The race was sponsored by New England Performance from Norwalk Connecticut. This was also the Vic English Memorial race in honor of the long time NETO member and crew chief of son Brian’s Camaro. Vic lost his battle with cancer last year. The club proceeds of the 50/50 was donated to the American cancer Society.
On a long, sunny, hot day with temperatures reaching the low 90’s the Comp Eliminator final was won by John Giambertone in his “Psyched Clone” 1965 Mercury Cyclone who ran a 9,828 on a 9.75 index to defeat runner up Tony Supino in his black beauty 1963 Chevy Nova. Tony ran a 8.37 on a 8.25 index in a losing battle.
In Nostalgia eliminator, Frank DiNapoli survived five rounds in his 1968 Camaro (which he drove to and from the track) to get the win running a 12.567 on a 12.68 dial, over a red lighting Don hart in his 1966 Dodge Hemi. Don was runner up with a 10.317 on a 10.40 dial.
