Well I researched it…Seems in Merry Olde England,it went like this….”Horses that were ridden in a populated area had bells on their harness so they could be heard coming. Especially if the were ridden fast such as a King’s messenger. It means almost the same as saying “I be there with sirens blaring and lights flashing”. Ok so much for todays lesson.
