Nothing else to say about it but Godspeed, Bill.
None of us gets out alive….
Just got in from skiing, had a fantastic time. I was up at 12,600′ on a trail named for John Denver called “Rocky Mountain High” I’m going out tomorrow and dedicate my runs to “Da Grump”. God speed Mr. Jenkins.

One of drag racings best. If you ever ran a bowtie product down the quarter mile, you have to thank Grumpy. So many innovations. Remember the first Vega? Totally shocked the ProStock world. RIP, Grump.

Interesting that Bill’s First Driving Victory, was at the wheel of a WINGDALE Car…Doc’s Black Arrow…If Doc hadn’t gone to Dover and won with his first car…Things might have turned out a lot different.
R.I.P. Grump, always liked ya. In the early to late seventies, I made a lot of trips to P.A. to buy parts from Bill. I can’t really say that we were friends, but he knew my voice and name when I called for either info or parts. He is already missed. 🙁 ………………………Mikey 😆
Rest In Peace
Though Ive only known Bill a few years, I consider it an honor and feel privilaged to have been a friend. Like many, I grew up a fan of “Da Grump”, and in my world, he was the man. I wanted to write a book celebrating his career, I felt it was deserved but had no clue as to how to go about it. How do you write a book about a man whose nickname Grumpy is based upon his persona? You don’t just pick up the phone and call him but thats exactly what I did, once I got the nerve up. LOL. Surprising, Bill was receptive to the idea and over a couple years, “Grumpys Toys” came together. We spent hours conversing about his life, his career, highs and lows and those who have come and gone. Though many found him to be gruff and unapproachable, I found him to be respectful and cordial, even humbled. I guess it all depended when you caught him.
Ive got to thank you Dino for the help you’ve provided with both the Grumpys Toys book and the soon to be released, Junior Stock book. Though I don’t get online as much as I use to, your site is one of the few I always make sure to stop by.
In regards to Bill, my condolences go out to his family and those close to him. He will be missed.
Doug
