Al Oakes was quite a guy. I talked with him when he was 88 yrs. old and he would tell
stories for hours. He was as sharp as a tack. He loved riding motorcycles with his club
member/best friend Dick Doyle (Blown Hearse). Al was an icon for sure. He set many
records and was inducted into the New England Hot Rod Hall of Fame at Epping, NH.
Here are a couple pics of Al’s 64 Impala B/FX and one of him in my garage checking out
the 409 valve covers on my wall. They are the original 409 valve covers off his Big “GROWLER”. 😮
Rest in peace Al. You left us with great memories and stories ❗
