NETO race 11 was completed Sunday Aug 2 at Island Dragway. This was the culmination of the 55th anniversary for Island. Thirty three racers competed in the race sponsored by Arroway Chevrolet/Cadillac of Mount Kisko NY. In Comp eliminator Greg Georges in his 1967 Camaro ran 9.27 on a 9.25 index to defeat runner up Lou Laferrara jr in his BBC powered Altered. Lou ran a 7.72 on a 7.75 index. In Nostalgia eliminator Vince Judd in the Judd Family Racing 70 Cougar went five roun…ds for the win. Vince ran a 10.768 on a 10.78 dial to defeat runner up Wayne Farquhar in his sharp 1969 Chevelle. Wayne ran a 11.297 on a 11.31 dial for runner up.
This was the day we ran for a Wally! The Nostalgia winner faced off against the Comp winner. The Comp tree (.400 pro) was used. The Comp winner had to dial any valid Comp index, the Nostalgia winner had to dial any number 10.00 or slower.
For the second year in a row the Nostalgia winner came home with the Wally! Vince Judd came away the winner running a 10.816 on a 10.76 dial to defeat Greg Georges. Greg ran a 9.65 on a 9.25 index as his car got loose but he stayed with it in an attempt to win.
