Hi folks…Watched about 1/2 of the 4 wide racing from Zmax tonight. Gotta tell ya, not a fan. Too much going on at once for a spectator to catch even if you’re there. From a paying spectators point of view you get ripped off..only 3 rounds of eliminations on Sunday to see. I read on another forum it isn’t going over too well… I must say nice marketing gimmick for ticket sales though. What do y’all think?

We watched the race because we always do. I hope that is the last 4 way race they have. My phone rang within minutes after it was over. My x crew chief couldn’t wait to tell me how much he did NOT like it and he is one of the biggest drag racing fans there is.

I watch all the NHRA races……This was interesting but very confusing…..As said they have a great marketing gimmick but I do not like it…Hopefully we only have to see it once a year, at Z Max…..They have already screwed up the Pro points system and now this….You know it’s getting to be like NASCAR and I hate NASCAR!!!! I’m a “dyed in the wool” drag racer….That roundy round crap makes me dizzy…If I stepped on some toes here tough crap…It won’t be my first….My answer is NO…I think it is not a good thing…….Don….

                        my 2 cents,IT SUCKS !!!
Oh ,I compare it to going to a bar and having 4 poles in front of you,too much of a good thing all at onetime when one pole would be just fine !

I’d love to ask Bruton Smith….”Why you so stupid”. He screwed up the original “Winston Invitational” stealing it from Rockingham .Took it to HIS Bristol and made it Top Fuel Against Funny car. That Bombed. Hey…On my way to Dover Fest on Local radio out of Fayetteville….HIS ad about it, said $57. for adult spectator and $10 for kids. If my family went .It would cost 134. to then be ripped off by the food concessions. A BIG NO…Dangerous and as dumb as IHRA running a monster truck against a Jet to try to get spectator money.

I think they would be better off, with a moil on the starting line circumcising an ape, so no.
……you mean “mole” ? dino , what ever way you speel it …you’re Right ! come to our Nostalgia Drags and see REAL racing.

As a diehard 1320 guy, 4-wide is nothing but a marketing circus to me. Since changing the point structure, the “Powers That Be” are going out of their way to turn championship drag racing into “entertainment.” Bruton Smith already said he’ll start construction at Las Vegas to add two more lanes. It looks like the handwriting is on the wall — we’re doomed.

Several years ago, I was walking behind the stands in the Top Eliminator Club at Pomona and overheard Dave Uyehara talking to a friend. He told his buddy, “This is the only circus in town where the clowns pay to get in.”

The pinks mentality of a “show’ …..the ‘backlash’ at the ticket gate will change the thinking…..maybe. New Breed of spectator….they’re ‘following the money”.

If you think about whats going on, NHRA, NASCAR are both doing something to get more people ($$$$) coming in so the have this CIRCUS and the offer some special buy it now discount price for a limited time. I have been a NHRA member a long time and this year 2010 they decided that the rule book is now downloadable saving THEM money but costing me more (ink and paper). The rule books are and now will be collectable that was one of the reasons I kept up my membership, well it is expiring this month and NO I am not renewing it. 4 wide racing, no rule books mailed, anyone remember Benny the Bomb one year up at Lebanon Valley.

Drag Racing has always been, and should always be one on one!!I think that NHRA needs to get its priorities in order, and 4 wide racing should not be one of them!! I just bought a membership so I can get a license to run my Willys at some NHRA tracks. I was told you had to do this, or you can’t race. OK, no problem, I bought the membership. You don’t even get a friggin rule book, you have to buy it Extra!! 😯 WTF!!! I just want to have fun. Now I need a physical, make 4 or 6 runs at certain speeds, that’s OK too. But the competition license is another $100.00 I think. 😮 I’m really starting to wonder if running the car is worth all the B.S. 😕 ………………………….Mikey 😎 😆

Mikey, you don’t need a license to run I think it 10.0s and slower. Just looked in rule book 2009 “Valid NHRA competition license manditory for cars running 9.99 or quicker. Valid state issued drivers license required for cars running 10.00or slower” A stock big block on pump gas will run all year with no problems and be more fun than a 4 wide circus.

Do you have to be a member of NHRA to run NETO or any nostalgia classes?
