I’m having “Berserko Bob” Doerrer write about his observations. After all, he’s been a track manager, a crew guy for Jungle Jim (and Garlits), done P.R. for a factory IMSA team, done P.R. for a Pro Funny Car team, as well as a host of other psuedo professional gigs. He planted his tired old ass in every vantage point imaginable at zMAX and I doubt any location made it any more exciting than another. I look forward to reading his take on the whole spectacle, and I hope you do, too.
I just checked the Orielly spring nats brought to you by NHRA And there are 15 cars in T/F, 16 in F/C, 26 in P/S and 17 bikes in PSB. that means in qualifing you see 7 runs 1 single TF 8runs in F/C 13 in P/S and 8 with a single in PBS. Brother Mike and I use to go to E-town on Fridays and I would keep score on how many runs we would seeand it was nearly double in the fuel classes and more than double in P/S and PSB thats why we went on Fridays PLUS it happened twice in one day. 4 wide racing would be done in 15 minutes now. y the way Bobby Lagana is in 10th. spot.

I like Friday’s the best. I don’t think that we will have to worry about

hi guys, did 4 lane at ny national 71,72, with my 14 sec 63 chev SS.time trials were 4, elims 2 if this helps.the 4 lane elims seem to get people to go home early.imagine how long it woulld take nhra to clean a 4 LANE OIL DOWN? at nyn 13.00 and up used 4 lanes if i remember.? it was a very busy place on sat nites. also,i was at national on the LAST day.same as dover,they told us on the pa system.no cars,another gas crisis.we had to carry gas with us -out of state,odd even days,couldn’t buy towing gas! early spring 1979 or80? conn dragway reopened 1980.
I said this in an earlier post. 4 lane racing SUCKS !!!! 😈 Half the racing for the same or more money !! 😯 I also DO NOT believe that it is really spectator friendly, too much to look at, and seems very easy to get confused. 😮 It’s just plain dumb, kinda like wiping your butt before the brown stuff comes out !! 😮 ………………..Mikey 😆

Just heard a top fuel driver interviewed from Las Vegas about this..Said NOT good for the sponsors who pay the teams…Can’t read the cars …also close-up TV shots cut in half …his Quote the best was “Its a Gimmick-I don’t like it”
Looks like the almighty dollar wins again!! I read Bruton threatened to pull out of NHRA altogether if this didn’t return. Tickets for the event will be buy 1 get 2 free!! JK,JK!! Those stands looked pretty empty at some points. I’m sure fans will not return. I agree with some racers…qualify 4 wide then run Sunday 2 wide with 4 rounds as normal. Imagine if the top three classes boycotted this race??? I could see it now 3 cars in T/F, 4 in F/C and 5 on P/S.
