Anybody notice how far the camera has to pull back, just to get the 4 lanes into view.
Reminds me of ‘CinemaScope’.
Any further back, you’ll need a telescope. ESPN better purchase the new style camera’s.
I also heard the phrase ‘4-Wide’ is now registered. Can only be used at Charlotte.

Guess when Morgan Lucas talked to NHRA about the 4 wide
he said that his sponsors are not gettin the air time he signed
with the for, he told NHRA that most of the pros do not like it,
NHRA told him they are going back there in 2011 and this is
NHRA reply: 😈

NHRA announced today that the 2011 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway will once again feature four-wide racing in all four Full Throttle categories. The spring event in Charlotte will be the only race on the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series schedule that will showcase four-wide racing.

“Few would argue the amount of attention the four-wide race received leading up to and even following the event from our fans, racers, and the media,” said Tom Compton, president, NHRA. “The spectacle of four-wide racing is nothing short of breathtaking, and we want to build on that and share the four-wide experience with our fans once again in 2011.”

Based on feedback from the fans, the racing community and sponsors, NHRA is planning to improve upon the format and make adjustments to enhance the experience for everyone. Areas under review include the experience on-site for the fans, improving television for fans watching at home, maximizing sponsor value, and working with the race teams on operational functions including the staging process.

“I want to thank Bruton and Marcus Smith and everyone at SMI for believing in NHRA and having the vision to build a facility that is truly one of the crown jewels of the sport,” said Compton.

As usual some one is lying. The big money follows big guys and Burton is looking to get a portion of it. PT Barnum felt the same way as did Don King etc. It seems all the writters in ND feel the same way after all the can’t bite the hand that feeds them. I’m glad I dropped my membership.

I think that if the majority of the Pro teams don’t like it, and their SPONSORS, THE MONEY PEOPLE don’t like it, they should have the courage not to attend the event. Don’t say anything, just don’t show up. Think that could happen???

Well…

The concept is nothing new. It’s been done before.

…but the consensus of opinion is clearly against it and I doubt if it could ever be justified as a device to get more racing done in a day’s event.

Lets see how many empty seats are in the stands this year……oh wait, unless you see it in person ESPN2 will ONLY film the full sections for the public to see (like NASCAR). Do people want to see 4 wide? Ticket sales are your real answer. Love it or hate it, 4 wide ain’t going away.

The only way they should be using this type of track is for oil downs. Switch tracks wile the other is being cleaned and prep.
