Good news for anyone planning to register a street rod, antique, special interest, composite, or replica car in Connecticut.

SB(substitute bill) #1073 goes into effect on 10/1/2009. My understanding is that this bill will:
        1. Allow cars to be registered in the year and make that they most closely resemble. No longer will you have to register it as the current year and it will be exempt from emissions.
        2. Allow special or antique plates that will limit tax assesments to a total of $500.
        3. Inspections can be conducted at local DMV offices and you will not have to trailer the car to Wethersfield.

This is the way the bill reads now but they can always make some changes before it goes into effect.
