Drag Car Exhibit News
The 2013 display in the drag section of the museum
will feature a group of awesome race cars which
include Mickey Thompson’s Revelleader Pontiac
funny car from 1973 and the famous “bubblement”
Top Gas dragster that won the 1969 US Nationals in
Indy driven by D.A. Santucci.
D.A. became so excited over his win that he swallowed
his bubble gum going thru the finish line and
had to be revived by the emergency crew! His wife
Barbara will speak at the Grand Opening April 6th in
his memory.
We have rotated the drag cars and we will have a
whole new display of cars and drag bikes. Bill
“Grumpy” Jenkins’ famous “Black Arrow” will also
be part of the group.Several new displays, photos, and lots of drag racing
memorabilia will also be added. It’s drag racing
history at its finest at EMMR!
WE HERE ON THE FORUM KNOW 2 Things..This Isn’t The Real Car AND BILL DIDN’T OWN it ..Just Drove It.
Its called marketing and poetic license Dino. Don’t let it get to you, we do know the real story.

Regarding Grumpys deal with Chrysler, or lack of deal, its explained nicely in the Grumpys Toys book, courtesy of Bill and Chryslers Bob Cahill. Bob made it clear that their was no animosity towards Bill, in fact they had a lot of respect for him. As Cahill relayed, after winning the Winternationals, there was no way a deal could be completed as by that point, drivers were signed for the year and there was no budget left.
Now the Dodge Boys deal in ’64 was a Strickler only deal, which upset Chrysler marketing folks as they couldnt use Jenkins in advertisements, etc. Jenkins didnt like the wording of the contract and refused to sign.
