I visited the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Ocala Florida in 1992. There was a curious momento in a glass case near the end of the exhibit……a trophy from Dover Drag Strip…….my memory is fading now but I believe it was dated 1959. It blew my mind.
One memory I do have of Dover is EJ Potter on his Chevy-powered bike……..”Superman with his pants on fire.”
The last time I visited the site was in 1989…….I think it had been converted to a peat moss farm.
