        What happened to them?
Based out Highland Garage, off Route 9W.

Heard through the grapevine that they are putting together a 1967 Barracuda,
383/280 HP engine, for NHRA classification in G/Stock???

Was it the 1969 Super Stock Magazine Nationals at York, where they won with the
        1967 RO Belvedere Hemi , in SS/DA.

Also, had a brief run with a factory S/S 68′ Hemi Cuda in SS/A.
Also, a 70′ Hemi Barracuda, convertible in, SS/E.
I think one of their first cars was a Plymouth Valiant, 273/235 hp.

        Is the correct information.

                All,
I see Lou and Ant around once in awhile at our Bear Mtn. cruise. I personally gave Lou an ODF membership form last year. He seemed real interested. As far as the new race car no word locally, I know one car they were looking at was too mint to turn into a race car. I’ll try my own little CSI work on this one….hopefully I’ll get confirmation on them for the Dover race.

                            Dino,

Your photo of the re-union car is the 67′ GTX 440 that used to be JOCKO’s RACING.
That car had a 440 engine, and ran SS/F ($), ran 12.00’s. Nice photo find.
Used to have Cragars on it, with Jocko’s lettering on the door panel. Still in good shape.

Bob (HVY70SS), thanks for passing that on. Great car. A factory Hemi car (1 of 55 produced).
I wonder if the Centolanzo’s bought it new from the factory in early 67′ or purchased from another racer. That car was a 1967 Belvedere Hemi RO-code. Nice white-painted steel rear rims. Saw that car up close in 1968, in one of the bays at the Mountain Garage.

                                Paul,
Glad you liked the pic. My guess would be they got it through Chrysler new. Back then Mountain Garage’s owner, Lou Pelligrinelli, had an major “in” with the factory as I remember. He LOVED drag racing!! He also loved beating up on Chevy at the track. My favorite memory of Lou P. was back in the late ’70’s I was working on my ’69 Camaro at home trying to run A/SA. Lou P. walked down the street to my house to check it out one day. He said…Nice car kid, but watch out for “Teacher’s Pet”, Jerry Stine. He rules A/SA. He was right!! Back to the Centolanza’s…Lou P. owned everything through Mountain Garage. I lived down the street from Mountain Garage about 200 feet. When the Hemi’s fired up I either ran or hopped on my Stingray to check ’em out before they shut off!! So Paul…when I see Lou Centolanza again I’ll check on the history of the white car. Take care……

                                                    BOSS-GUY,

I made an error, that convertible Hemi Cuda 4-speed was a 1971.
                                                    1 of only 11 produced.
                                                    1 of only 3 with the Shaker-hood
1 of only 1 with the factory-installed spoiler.

                                                    Recent sale of a 71′ Hemi Cuda, convertible, 4-speed at RM-AUCTIONS, $2,200,000.

                                                    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Give those Centalanzo Brothers credit, they could really pick them.

                                                        Bob (Hvy70SS),

I bet when that HEMI turned over, all those cabinets and windows shook throughout the neighborhood. I’m sure you weren’t the only one to shoot down to Mountain Garage, I bet every Italian mother who was cooking in the neighborhood probably went down there with a wooden spoon in their hand.
                                                        A 69′ Camaro for A/SA, sounds like a 427/425hp COPO car.
Yes Jerry Stein, “Teachers Pet”. Thats all I ever heard from Louie Vignogna, “Teachers Pet”,
426 Max-Wedge, Stage III. The 64′ Belvedere, white A/SA was the nicest one. Also, ran in
SS/EA with the white car, I think.
Not sure if you remember a Kevin or Kenny Morgan, had a 67′ dark-red GTX Hemi that ran at Dover a couple of times in A/S, blew the 4-speed apart, and switched over to A/SA.
Despite living in Yorktown, only ran at Dover a handful of times. Used to go to

Don’t know if you noticed, Dino, that’s the “AdMan” Nova just on the other side to the left of Centolanza’s rag top ‘Cuda. I think you painted that. I had some really good shots of that until a year or so ago when the movers lost about 90% of my pics.
Stein ran a ’63 Plymouth most of his time racing. I know he also had a ’64. We were at a record meet at Island one weekend and Jerry’s crew guy, “monk”, fell asleep in the trunk of one of Jere’s ’63’s while waiting in the staging lanes. Jerry comes by, picks up his legs and throws them in and closes the trunk, and MADE A PASS with Monk in the trunk! You could hear him kicking and screaming as Jere came down the return road. I think that was ’69.
