The Miracle Riders Motorcycle Club of Newburgh NY war veterans that took the Miracle Riders name because it was a miracle they made it home alive, those guys were way way before my time but there is an old timer down in Newburgh that often mention the good ole days and the Miracle Riders M/C , other than that Newburgh guy and this Dover thread Ive never heard of them.

        Good post interesting 😎

GREAT THREAD!! THE GUYS FROM PENNA USED TO RACE AT MONTGOMERY, AND GAVE THEM THE AIRPORT STRIP IDEA, AND THEY USED A STRIP AT FORTY FORT, PA AIRPORT NEAR WILKES BARRE, PA. VERY SUCCESSFUL DRAGS AT THE FF AIRPORT, BUT THERE WAS STILL A LOT OF STREET RACING GOING ON (!!!!), HEAVENS. FAST FORWARD TO 1961, WHEN THE PERUGINO FAMILY BOUGHT 325 ACRES NEAR BEAR CREEK , PA AND OPENED THE POCONO DRAG LODGE IN 1963. THE RACERS NEEDED A PLACE TO RACE, HOPEFULLY GET SOME OF THE RACING OFF THE STREET (ANOTHER !!!!). THE MASTER PLAN WAS A DRAG STRIP, NASCAR TRACK AND HOTELS FOR THE ATTENDEES, THUS THE NAME LODGE, BUT THE DRAG STRIP WAS AS FAR AS IT WENT. LIKE DOVER, YOU COULD ‘RUN WHATCHA BRUNG”, PEEL THE HUBCAPS AND HAVE AT IT. WEDNESDAY NIGHTS WAS GRUDE RACING; SETTLE IT ON THE TRACK,TEST AND TUNE, OR WHATEVER YOU WANTED TO DO, FOR THE NOMINAL SUM OF $2! LOTS OF BIG NAMES IN THE EXCITING EARLY 60’S WHEN FACTORY SPONSORSHIP WAS GOING FULL BLAST!

COME TO OUR 7TH ANNUAL REUNION, AUGUST 8, 2015!!

                CHARLIE HULSIZER 😀
