DOVER’S LAST DAY: May 23,1976….the story unfolds

Was that a NHRA class ? C/SM < like that? kinda like /MP (modified Production ?). Ralph’s Vette -white with all the squiggly graphics on it ..Need a photo of Your car …one here someplace that somebody posted ?

yes , the super mod. classes started in 1975 with A/SM . in 1976 it went to A,B and C/SM . very strict engine and body rules . this was the begining of econo classes , nothing econo about it . in 76 I started traveling the nhra curcuit and started doing pretty good ,winning the div one points race at e-town in 77 and was very close to winning the div. championship that year .I was on a roll that year and actually made money raceing .had some sponsors and I was living a dream . I will never ,ever forget those couple of years I wish I had kept all the articles that were in Natl. Dragster and all the hats and jackets that I won . Ill get some pictures posted as soon as my wife gets a chance…Billy

yes …that is the car , but it had a cowl induction scoop for the 1 4barrell carb . it actually worked better then the snorkel scoop…Billy

I was racing my rear engine dragster running c/dragster Billy Griffin was running an altered I think B/A . I don’t think we were the last cars to go down the track but I do remember getting a check for a whopping 90 dollars.

Billy..Know that shot of your Rail isn’t the LAST run BUT just for ha-ha’s…whose in the other lane?

WOULD REALLY LIKE TO FIND the Drag Times dated for that week or next and see IF it had the LAST Days results and maybe some type of announcement about closing .
