Not lost in the mountains at least not at the moment. We are in south Virginia, will be heading north on Monday. We left home 19 days ago, dropped off the car with Maso and his good friend Steve. Made a side trip to near Menphis TN to see our new grand daughter, she was only two days old when we got there. Looking forward to making it to Lebanon Valley next weekend.
We made it to CT and looking forward to the weekend at Lebanon Velley.
Well we are back home as of last week. We really enjoyed the Dover weekend. Back with lots of friends and family we only get to see usually once a year. We put more than 4000 miles of driving and riding in this year and had a ball doing it. We hope to be able to do the same next year.
We liked the new event of the fastest street car. Got to make a Dover time trial, drive out of the track and onto the street, do the twenty some mile trip, come back and made the time trial in the fastest street class and than race it with a flag start. That was like the early old days that brought back memories of Al getting us started at Dover in the 60’s.
Sunday’s race was very well organized and we really liked racing with some of the people from 40 some years ago. All n all we couldn’t have had a better weekend thanks to all that made it possible.
Car looks real good, Tom. Wish I could have been there to see it go. Next year, come hell or high water, I’ll be there!! Guess what? I just got home from the hospital about 30 minutes ago, been in since Friday morning. Thought I might have some heart trouble, tough breathing, chest pains, etc. Turns out I’ve had pneumonia for about a week and never realized it, just kept pushing myself and waiting for more tests to be done in mid September. I guess you just never know. Anyway, I’ll rest up for a couple of days, then work to get the car ready to go to Orlando Speedworld either this coming weekend, or next Wed. I can make a couple of 1/8th mile passes and if it feels good, I’ll go the full 1/4 mile. I’ll keep you informed. …………Mikey
Tom, I’m sure that I speak for a lot of ODF’s guys saying how great it was to have you and your family participate in another DOVER Nostalgia event ❗ 😆 It was good talking with
you and seeing first hand the AC set up in your “55… Quite the masterpiece of invention ❗
Glad you had a good time here and looking forward to reading your posts and seeing all you
guys again next year……. 😆
Frank… 😎
Just got the parts to modify the rear end on the 55. The front wheels will come up at the same time and the car will go straighter. Should be done by the weekend.
The car is back home with the rear suspension completely re-done.
The coil over shocks were relocated to work better, replaced the front hime joints with stronger ones, added the safety brackets to the front of the ladder bars, flipped the ladder bars over with the adjusters on the bottom, added an anti-roll bar, the rear end was squared, centered and the pinion angle set. After all that was done the car was scaled. The balance of the car is 48.6% on the front and 51.4% on the rear.
Drives good on the street and now we are ready to test it on the track again.
Sounds like you’re on the right track, Tom. Good luck on the testing. I’ll be testing pretty soon too. …………Mikey
Tom, did you ever belong to the Plumbers Union?? With all the different piping you’ve done on “Odd Job”, you should be a “Master”!!
