One question. Who won the 3-way “STOCK BATTLE ROYALE’, on May 30, 1965, between
the AFX Tasca Ford, The Black Arrow and Billy Lagana ❓
In the promo ad, there is no owner named of the Black Arrow.
Did Jenkins still have possession, or did he turn it over to Dr. Robert L. Burgess yet ❓

As for Don Garlits appearances at Dover. I think the Putnam Journal newspaper has articles in their archives, in their office in Cold Spring, New York. I remember seeing them at one time (many moons ago) their, or possibly in the Peekskill Evening Star (now defunct).
Of course 1964 and 1965 were before my time.

Interesting fact, the NHRA Springnationals were set for June 4, 1965 in Bristol, TN.
Nice to know that Tasca Ford, Black Arrow and Billy Lagana made their final preparations at Dover, before the Springnationals. (Unless they did not attend).

I’m still with the book that Pat sold me at the museum, Big Daddy… A Career Pictorial; Vol’s. I, II, and III. It says that the Gar had three Swamp Rat III’s, A, B. and C…He was smart. He knew that track owners would book him for one car and he had duplicates in case he needed them. The one that Swingle drove had quarter eliptical leaf springs and Don’s was mounted solid and for that reason, Don’s SWIII always got off the line quicker because of the energy that was absorbed by those springs held the car off just a little. Swingle must have hated that…!

Maybe the “GramDog” should chime in here. He was there that day when number 3 Swamp Rat came to the Dover Drag Strip. He was crewing with Bob Gallaghar’s Gramatan Dodge that day.
