Frank…you hit the nail on the head! Tom,you never cease to ‘amaze’ us!!! Nice job! 😮 😀 😉
HEY
Ya need to get the Super Pumpkins Sawsall ta work on those babys!!!!
‘V’
Yes, LARGE wheel wells with some supports like maybe thin wall conduit. Gonna look real good!!
……………..Mikey
Made Friday and Saturday a big weekend for car shows. Friday we went to the downtown Lakeland show and than to the weekly Burger King show. The car got a trophy at the Burger King (must have felt sorry for the rough body on the car 😆 ). Saturday morning went to the airport car show and in the afternoon we went to Dade City show, that was a 80 mile round trip and the longest trip for the 55 so far.
The reason we took the car out this weekend is that it will be the last time in a while before it is back out.
Nice work Tom!!! Is that the only body panel you have to replace? Are ya gonna stay with the orange color paint,or make it like the tan color you had on the original ‘Odd Job’ ? Just curious. 🙄
Hey Tom, I thought I saw this build a couple years ago ❓ 😆 Your 55 all apart. I still
got to find out what you’re taking to have all that energy ❗ 😆 God bless you, really ❗
Keep us posted. We all love to see how your projects progress…Be careful ❗
Frank… 😎
Frank….To answer where dose the energy come from, it’s the encouragement from guys like you and the others that seem to have the interest in following this thread on the 55.
Pete…. Got all the sheet metal from the doors back. Five pieces total, both quarters, both tail light halves and the piece that connects them together at the base of the trunk lid. The driver side quarter is on back order but should be here in a couple of weeks. All the other pieces we have already.
The original color was orange, Rustoleum yellow mixed with the red in equal parts to make the orange color. The tan or gold look came from the faded pictures taken back in the 60’s.
Thanks Tom.for setting me straight on your ‘original’ orange color. I agree with Frank, your like that pink ‘Energizer’ bunny…you keep going…and going non stop!!! 🙄 🙄 🙄 😉 😀 We enjoy seeing your updates! Pete.
Looking good. Tom, but I sure don’t envy all the labor you’re gonna use up!! The car should really look great. Have you come up with a way to reinforce the wheel wells, maybe split some thin-wall conduit and bend it to fit, then weld it on?? I did it to a couple of cars “back in the day”, and it worked out very well. Just wondering.
Mary came up with an idea I am going to try. Cutting out the wheel well and than welding tabs to it so it can be put back for driving and appearance but removable like the old fender skirts. The Mustang has the same idea, the fairings are Dzus fastened to the body for the same reason, being able to remove and install the big tires.
Not sure how it will end up but time will tell. Long way top go before that has to be done. Bodywork was never my thing.
Added the Mustang picture, both front and rear tire panels are removable. The three Dzus fasteners are visible on the rear panel.
