Rascals update ….seems Dino ! -Danelli, the best drummer next to keith Moon
and lead guitar player Gene Cornish …Broke away from Felix and formed the “New” Rascals.:
DINO,
Me ‘Disco’,,,No way, I’m a ‘hard rocker’..Led Zeppelin, Yardbirds,,60’s and early 70′ heavy blues.
Unfortunately, in the early-mid 80’s, the bartender tip money was at the “hair-spray and make-up clubs”,,ie; Polo’s,,Teddy’s (Holiday Inn’s),,Marriot (Tarrytown Road, Elmsford) and that place right in the center of White Plains (name escapes me at the moment)??
Polo’s 1983-1986(ex-Fore N’ Aft bar),,mucho money for bartenders, $175-$200 a night,,thats when that kind of money meant something. (Wednesday-thru-Saturday)… A nice way to pick-up a nice $750 or so,,,,and the ‘braciole’ was top-notch for awhile,,until they started letting underage-teenage girls in the place…Man the things I did to them in the employee’s lounge,,
‘things you wouldn’t do to a farm animal’…
Paul…A good listening tune,,,’Evil Hearted You’,,,by ‘The Yardbirds’ 😎 ,much better than
‘Last Dance’ by Donna Summer, which unfortunately had to be heard by every bartender at
3:00 AM, at ‘last call’..during the early 80’s.
Paul,,,Fore N’ Aft had a ‘drink of the month’,, 😮
7 pages have gone by now on this subject and no “Foghat” a LI band that got up to Westchester Larry Hoffman had a 49 Ford gasser “The Hairy Canary” painted their drum sets. Maybe they never ventured north.

Roger Earl is the only living member of the band . Prior to founding Foghat, Earl was a member of Savoy Brown from 1967 to 1970. Earl continues to tour with Foghat,(New guys) playing around 70 dates a year, , and lives with his wife Linda on the north shore of Long Island, west of Port Jefferson, well suited to Earl’s fishing hobby. The Earls are a musical family with Roger’s brother, Colin Earl, playing electric piano for Mungo Jerry. Roger now wears a hearing aid. His most notable trademark with Foghat was his enormous mustache that covered half his face which he doesn’t wear anymore. They formed in England ,then moved to long island in early 70’s. best know song—‘Slow Ride” …cover of first album taken in NYC.Thats the New York connection of the group. Also recorded in a farm house in Vermont…and toured around the northeast a lot .Early club Gigs only payed like 500. for the night …til they got hit records and toured with big groups and guys like Peter Frampton………………..Dino -‘Knows His Rock” ! …think we have a shot of that :”Hairy Canary” in ODF galleries.
Foghat…that goes way back. Saw them with Blue Oyster Cult and Slade in NJ in ’72 or’73. Foghat 8track was always in my GTO as i was a “Fool for the City”….sorry had to do it. OK….any Ten Years After fans??? How ’bout Canned Heat?

Rizzi …”Banksville”…Full report From Don K.:
Banksville: The border town between Armonk and Greenwich…..The name of the club was The Deercrest Inn and later called The Country House..It was on Bedford Banksville Rd.across the street from the Banksville Farmers Market…They had many big groups and I was there the night the Rascals were there…Billy Vera and the Night Riders opened for them….Felix was a cocky jerk …Thought he was “all that and a bag of chips….Anderson Hill Rd. also had 2 clubs (near SUNY Purchase)…The one I would frequent was The Hilltop……….(Not near Banksville)………Don

All of them and Hot Tuna. About 15 yrs ago I was a pseudo (not sumo Mike) roadie for a band that opened for BOC at a place called (I think) Tuxido’s in CT
Pat
Country House, Banksville–do I remember correctly that prior to the 21 legal drinking age, it was 17 in CT and 18 in NY, and NY’ers coming back across the border had to watch for the PD at the state line.
Also, I went to high school with Billy Vera–Stepinac. He was a couple years ahead of me.

Trivia Question:
Any of you Connecticut guys know who Fritz Richmond was…???
( This is a tough one…! )
He owned Richmond Transmissions, right?
Pat
Thank you Mr.Kauer oh Wizard of Knowledge….. RIZ~~~
Pat
No.
He was both a musician with an active recording career and a Drag Racer and later a street rodder.
Hint: He played a very unusial insterment, to say the least…!
Fritz Richmond.

Rock-N-Roll,
Go through Bedford Village, Route 22,,make a left on Banksville Road, and head out for
about 10 miles. The only thing out there was the Fire Department, a fruit stand, and
the ‘Country House’..Surprised no one mentioned ‘Quicksilver Messenger Service’, they made a brief run through many of the small/mid-size clubs 69/70/71. They played at the
‘Dean House’, off Lake Mahopac (remember that place Bobby S.), about 1320 feet away from
Lou Vignogna’s apartment on Baldwin Place Road 🙂 They were supposed to play at Lakeland Middle School (opposite the now mid-Westchester mall, Cortlandt Manor), but they got bumped and were replaced by,,,GET THIS,,’The Harlem Wizards’ basketball group versus
some Westchester Semi-Pro team..
Paul, Did anyone say ‘Double-Dribble’
Well… The Wikipedia article doesn’t go into Fritz Richmond’s hot rodding activities, but my book “Cool Cars, Square Roll Bars – Photos and Recollections of Fifties Hot Rodding in New England” Edited by Bernie Shuman does. First on page 138 about his hopped up 61 c.i. ’48 Morris Minor that I think he may have run that at Montgomery ( not sure ’bout that ) and also about how he and his “Drag-Lynx” club buddies aquired a hemi powered dragster called the “Bubble Gum Special II” They cranked that baby up once on a Boston street and got themselves in a world of trouble for it…!
Then on page 222 we see a picture of his recent ’32 Street Coupe that is really a very fine looking piece indeed with it’s Oragon plates.
Here a link to a video of him with the Jim Kweskin Jug Band from the 1960’s. He actually got legitimate music from that washtub…!!! Go see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFDgwW2C3m0 The guy in the black shirt is in fact a Westchester Countian. That’s Geoff Muldaur also from Pelham. Maybe Felix’s neighbor.
My girlfriend and I used to go downtown and see these guys back then… it was great…!
