Hey Tom, It sounds like you had your hands full ❗ A lot of good results though ❗
You might need a better set of slicks for the 5th D.D.S.N.D. next year ❓ 😛 It will
be something to see the “55 with street legal plates on it ❗ Keep us posted….
Frank…
Tom, good to hear you had a decent night. Do you think the slicks were most of the problem, or did the “dew” start to settle in?? I ran into that problem up at CFRC a few times last year as the “winter” set in. …………..Mikey 😆
Mikey….The slicks are pretty old. It was cold but some other cars were hooking. Some had problems but think the old tires were a big part of the spinning problem. The rubber on Hoosier tires that are on the Mustang are much softer.
The starter asked one of the crew how old the slicks were. He knows Goodyear hasn’t made white letter slicks in about 10 years or so. 😆 😆 Some people just know too much. 🙄
Good point on the Goodyears with white letters. When I bought the Willys, it had Goodyears on it, but the lettering was yellow. I still checked them with a Durometer, and they were a lot harder than they should have been. I like the Hoosiers, because they stay softer longer. …………..Mikey 😆
Mickey Thompsons are the real deal. ❗
John
John….Thanks, looks like all the brands are pretty high but still looking. Will put off slicks for now since I am trying to get the car street legal, first.
Looks like a beauty, Tom. Is that the 572?? Good luck fitting the headlights in, that should be tons of fun. ………………Mikey 😆
Headlights for the street? You gona do directionals and wipers too?.
Gotta be Semi-street-legal to drive it to car shows. My Willys does not need signal lights, but it does need head, tail, and brake lights. …………Mikey 😆
HEY
DINO, oh Swamie oh, Sultan of liquid delight, work your magic and airbrush some lights for these guys!!!
‘V’
Mikey….Not the 572, that engine is still in the Mustang. The new engine is an eBay special. Won the bid for the long block and finished the assembly with mostly stuff I had in the attic (Not the foot locker but the attic). 😆
Where does the semi legal come from, is it because the year of your car is a 1941?
Dino…want to do all of the stuff needed. Wipers are going to be a problem, that space where the arms go is used for distributor clearance.
We are even starting out with the air conditioner pump on the engine. (What a dreamer, but never give up) 😀
Yo Bob…think he needs to find his way home in the dark 😉
Tom,it must be nice down there in Florida to work on your ’55’,weather wise! Up north here, unless you have a heat source in your garage to work on your ‘hot-rod’,most are in hibernation now till early spring.Your lucky!
