Tom,it must be nice down there in Florida to work on your ’55’,weather wise! Up north here, unless you have a heat source in your garage to work on your ‘hot-rod’,most are in hibernation now till early spring.Your lucky!

He can’t go downhill skiing like you can Cakes 😆 😆 😆 😆 I’m going to Windam tomorrow Pete I can get you a free lift ticket if you want. 😆 😆 😆

Hey Pat,you got a ‘good’ point there! However, thanks for the ‘invite’,only thing is,I don’t want to spend Xmas in a body cast,or leg casts! My mind sez go,but my body sez NO!!! Unfortunately at my age,I have to respect my body’s wishes Pat! Have a good time skiing,I know you love it as much as drag racing! 😮 😀

Pete……Spent many a cold winter days in an unheated garage in Connecticut, working on the old 55. I will say that you are correct about being lucky and being down south in the winter. Yesterday was about 80 degrees and was great. Pat is right, no downhill skiing here but we could go water skiing.

The new street engine is in the car filling that big empty hole.

The engine is in, the engine runs, good oil pressure, the cam is broke in and no leaks.
We ran the engine more than 30 minutes to break in the cam and the highest the temperature got was 175 and it even came down at slower idle speeds. Not used to engines without temperature problems but this one looks real good (or we have a bad gage- not really). Today was a good day for the 55 Chevy. We are another step closer to having a streetable race car.

It will definatly Blow People Away when you hit the streets with a RACE CAR .Cops 😆 will do a double take too…

Dino….got stopped at night by a cop in Crystal River FL. He told me you can’t run slicks on the street. Told him I knew that and that these tires were DOT approved street tires. He got on his hands and knees with flash light to check them out. When he got up he said you are ok because they had grooves in them.
I asked him if he wanted to see the rest of the car. His response was “if you don’t mind”. Even cops like hot rods. He than called his buddy on the radio and told him come see this Mustang, it is just what we need. It turned out to be a pretty neat exchange of conversation. (Think I met one of the really good ones).

Now the gasser WILL get stopped…with all the lettering and Race Look…they’ll think you’re trying to pull a fast one…THEN when you show them it’s Street Legal with a quick tour and proper paper work…the whole on duty shift will show up to “Dig IT” ! Then ya pull off a Grand Enterance to a local cruise or show….Police Escort with all the patrol cars flashing their lights…always went for the dramatic! .

Making some progress on making the 55 a street car. Got the first headlight located in the front end and working on the second one. They will be set in place temporarily till I put the nose back on the car to see where they are pointing. Than I will glass the rear housings in place to stay. Got new headlights and bezels ordered and that should finish off the installation part of this project. The new headlights will have the signal light incorporated into the headlight and will eliminate the need for separate parking light assemblies.
