TOM, ATTA BOY! That alt. is welded,or soldered together which is why they were hesistant. we did not rebuild those. replaced hundreds of them.when you need high amps they are easily available. fords 2004 and up have a 200 amper! on all the heated seat cars. hard to find used and $$$$ new. on the way to cruise night why don’t you try it out at the 1/4 mile cruise. good luck pete.
Back from the car show. I think the 55 was a hit. We had more people come to see the 55 than I can remember coming by to see the Mustang. We had people that came by and than came back a second and third time, it was fun for me.
The car ran with no problems. The radiator is really doing an excellent job. Will probably need a thermostat to get the temp up higher. The temp in the afternoon only got to 175 but on the way home when it was cooler the temp gage just moved off the 130 mark.
The 55 is going to be a fun ride. As we get more confident in it running good we will travel farther. But as of now we only have a total of 14 miles on it and they were happy miles.
Good for you Tom ❗ ❗ 😛
Frank… 😎
HEY
TOM, did you drive by the house???
Maybe it was a low flyin jet going to Bradley airport that I herd!!!
‘V’
Nice Tom,glad you ‘finally’ made it! Great to hear also it attracted alot of people too! Way to go!!! :geek: 😀
Did ya take any photos????
Dino….Had the camera with us but got so many people coming around we didn’t remember the camera. We had people coming up to the car before we even got parked. We made a picture album about the history of the 55 and why we started it. That got us into a conversation about Dover. Met a guy that raced at Island and Lebanon Valley but not Dover. He said he knew Doc Burgess and talked about the Black Arrow like that was his time also. Told him to go to Doverdragstrip.com. Didn’t see anything about a new guy today. Amazing just how many people knew about Dover. We seem to run into people all the time down here. The Dover decals help get people talking about the track.
Cute helper. Get her started early, I do. …………..Mikey 😆
Still working on small stuff, anything to avoid the bodywork. Added a couple of rear view mirrors, getting the inside signal light and high beam indicators wired. Working on the steering, turns one direction a little more than the other.
Got an estimated 25 miles on the car so far. The speedometer is due in Friday.
The dashboard is going to be a quick removal unit. Got the brackets welded in place and the dash is now held in place with 2 Dzus fasteners.
Looking ‘BETTER’ and ‘BETTER’ Tom,keep it going !!! Pete.
Got the Autometer speedometer installed and tested today (Wednesday). The trans does not have the speedometer gear and the other stuff so I went in a different direction. The speedometer is a satellite (GPS) activated unit, doesn’t need the trans gear and it doesn’t matter what gears I put in the rear end.
Didn’t know what to expect for an output but it works or reads just like a normal speedometer but has other features like trip miles, odometer, time and distance info, direction traveling, Lat an Lon, clock time. It seems like a pretty neat unit.
Got about 100 street miles on the 55 as of today.
Had the front end aligned after installing new ball joints. Next we will need to change the rear springs, not quite heavy enough. New springs will be here Thursday, in time for the local Friday car show.
The car seems like it will be a more street friendly ride. Went 40 plus miles Sunday, the engine temp never reach 190 and the rough estimate on mileage seems to be about 10 mpg on 91 octane pump gas. Drives and handles pretty good. The near future projects will be to insulate the interior for noise and heat, summer will be here soon. 😀
Tom,that ‘speedometer’ is amazing! I can’t get over it,wow!!! Today’s technology blows my mind! Considering the engine, trans. and rear combo, not ‘too’ bad considering; about the same as a motor home. Enjoy cruising and car shows with it! Pete.
New rear springs were delivered late today and are installed.
The car has 107.9 miles, just had to test the new springs.
Installed a tach on the chassis tube so the dash still comes out with two Dzus fasteners.
Friday night was an experience. We waited till the rain stopped and than went to the 10th Lakeland Cruisers anniversary car show. The radar looked like we had at least a two hour window before more rain. It came a little earlier, we got wet before getting back in the car. The windows fogger up almost as soon as we got in, I had put the rain x on the outside only. With no air conditioner to dry the inside of the car we couldn’t see very good but we headed back home. Than the thunder storm got worse. Mary was wiping the inside windshield every few minutes. We came up on an accident that had the road blocked and that caused us to turn around and go another direction. It was an experience but we were able to have a good laugh about it after we were home safe.
At least the car got a good cleaning after it was wiped down in the shop. 😆
