Bobby…Posted this Here for Ya
Just had the most awesome phone call,
from Dode Martin, yep the one & only
Nelson & Martin “DRAGMASTER” company
he received the package I sent him,
confirmed the chassis as one
of the Dragmasters. It is the same series
used for the Moon Eyes dragster. He talked about how
he made a complete new chassis for Moon Eyes company
after their original one hit the wall a few years back.
Dode is sending some pictures of the original drawings
of the chassis.
Dode is now doing stuff on a light schedule,
can’t move around as he would like to.
He is getting a Dragmaster chassis ready for the Bakersfield show
and will be part of the Cackle Fest event,
and also one that is gonna be in the Nostalgia display
at NHRA 50th Nationals.
His partiner Jim Nelson is also out there in Calif not far from Dode.
He gave me his number and I’ll try and call him soon.
More history to add to the project. GREAT.
thought you might like to know,
waiting for the snow 😡

I called and left a voice mail with
Jim Nelson, yep the same,
Dode Martins & jim Nelson of Dragmasters
just an follow-up on my last up-date posted
Bobby:
I remember being there in the mid 60’s and Hellzapoppin was the car my friends and I cam to watch.
It’s history is full of great memories for many of us and thank you for saving such a great piece of it forever.
I own Nostalgic Racing Decals so just let me know what decals you need for the project and I will be happy to send them to you just so I can play a small part in what you are doing.

Latest up-date chassis info,
just off the phone with Jim Nelson
the Dragmaster chassis co-owner.
He was delighted to hear the chassis is still
together, and by the talk on the phone and the way
a few sections I described to him of the chassis he said
it is the Dragmaster Mark 1 chassis, just like Dode mentioned.
He remembers Ron Abbott and also offered any tech info I might need
to bring her back to her GLORY DAYS.
I am putting a package of pictures together for him
so he can see the chassis now & than when Ron had it.
The story keeps getting better & better..
gotta love it.
just thought the group might want to keep informed.

thank you for your reply,
I will keep in touch with you when I get to the decals,
from the pictures of the chassis there was not a lot,
but the one`s that were on it I would like to put back on,
and some for the history / display boards.
Thanks, Bobby)
MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone,
Looks like your project is coming together or at least has a good start and a lot of interest.

I was thinking of a lay down system like Rich was thinking about, but I was also going to suggest running methanol, because it burns so cool and clean. Good luck, wish I’d got to it first !! 🙁 🙁 🙁 Mikey
If you guy’s are going to run methanol you will not need a radiator . I can’t get enough heat in mine with methanol . Also Bobby S. I think Skip North has a set of those headers like your car had he might even have some early Hilborn stuff .
Want to use alcohol, I got a complete HILBORN injection system
from a racer in Tenn, (picture of injectors below) not my motor.
I’ve been in touch with Paul Galvin & HILBORN about the plumbing
and line sizes. Paul has a lot or reading material for this stuff made
everything a lot clearer. HILBORN send me some good stuff also.
THE HILBORN unit I have is dated back to 1955-1957,
by the numbers on the bottom of the intake.
HILBORN gave me the early code brakedown,
the cast numbers are 265 C8 D.
Do you or any forum member have contact info for Skip North,
I’ll call him and see if he does have the long header.
Thanks for your interest.

Bobby…Go to Members …click on S …and click on ‘Skip North’ there …e-mail or PM …I DO have his Phone # ,if ya need it….so does Brian
Bobby that looks like the EXACT Hilborn I’m running on the MG. Who is the guy in Tenn. I have used Alky Mike Chilando with good results he is just a little hard to understand being one of those Southern Pisano’s.
Pat

Thanks Dino.
