I got the system from Ron Michaels, his shop is
BOOGER HOLLOW RACING, in Tellico, Tnn
real nice guy on the phone, the southern accent was ok to understand
but when I called him there was 2 ROOSTERS
A-COCKAL-DOOD’L-DOOLING in the back ground,,
I’m usto the 3rd Ave ELL from the bronx as back ground sound.
he send me some pictures of race stuff from his shop, SWEET looking cars.
his personal altered is a lift body bantom,
he took extra care when he packaged everythin and it all arrived great.
thanks for asking,
“D”
hopefully I can have that SMILE when
I can make a pass in her,
maybe a LIL` BIGGER than the look
Paul had last year when V-Bob took his picture in the Willys.
just happen to have one in my folder for the dragster,
it’s a poor photo copy for now.
When I called Dode & Jim I asked them if they had any left to sign
so I can put on the display boards. Waiting for them to answer.
That would be SWEEEEEEET.

I have a HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone from Skip North,
I was at the FD for a meeting, when I got home he’d left a message on the machine,
masracing,, he does not have any headers like the set in question,
he has been busy and I’ll try and call him back to catch up with him,
Next I’ll be at LaReginas` saturday before the NETO meeting to see when
he want it for the hoop & headers, than some of my friends want
to start taking it apart so the rebuild can start some time in March’sh
Also on the phone today with Ron Abbott again,
got the paint color he used in this chassis.
thinks there is something close out there in the new
paints, will be at the body shop next week looking for numbers,
also got the dates closer for the chassis’s he ran, just another call
to the dragmaster boys in Calif to answer some “TECH” questions,
’bout for this time.
thanks for all your interest on this,
Bobby S.
Got some more GREAT stuff
in todays mail I got the specs for the second hoop
to be reinstalled on her from Dode Martin,
for the display frame also in the mail
I got the 2 dated & autographed DRAGMASTER
logo stickers from Dode Martin & Jim Nelson,
(attached below)
that will be SWEET on the history display,
she goes to Bobby LaRegina’s mid february,
that’s the latest for now,
Bobby S.
good move on the ‘Helzapoppin’ over the decal ….Genuine collectors Items.
You guys are going to want to go see the newly posted photo collection of Roger Hibbert’s stuff in the ODF gallery. In the 1962 gallery Roger got some excellent shots of both Doug Tippett’s car and Ron Abbott’s longer Dragmaster car, possibly taken on the same day. In Roger’s 1965 collection are two shots of the longer car in the shutoff area with the front end all smashed up and Ron’s crew chief in that same red and black plaid wool shirt that is in the other picture we have of then turning around for the push start. Then in 1965 Roger got some shots of Abbott’s long Dragmaster and also the new car with the more modern chassis.
There is also a picture of the short D’master when Tippets had it painted black and on it’s trailer.
Go see…
Good documentation there.

Not Hellzapoppin, but a pretty famous Dragmaster car anyway. 1958 US Nationals in Detroit.
Quite a few famous names and other cars too. Enjoy..

That is the Dragmaster car of Dode Martin and Jim Nelson, later driven and crashed by Jaimie Parker at Indy in ’63. Those are the guys who make the Dragmaster chassis.
thanks for the link,
I got the Non U tube version of this
I made 2 copies and send them to Dode & Jim,
they both enjoyed seeing it again after 50+ yrs,
plus have a copy for the display
when I start showing my chassis,

That was my idea. It would be just like old times, I supose those two cars probably did duke it out a few times in the day. And also John Fico’s K-88 which is in the museum in Ocala. The three of them would look great together again, all examples of short wheelbased tubular chassis; Dragmaster, Lyndwood and Fenn who probably ran each other at Dover.
