Dino,here’s a good one to kick around.when it came to the ‘drags’,90% were guys at the time.Here’s my question;how many guys brought there ‘main squeeze’ with them in the pits,and asked them if they (honestly) enjoyed it? My usual answer was.’it was alright’.I was lucky;perhaps once or maybe even twice they would go again.One particular girlfriend of mine gave me the most ‘honest’ answer when I asked her how she enjoyed it.Her answer was with a question and she made her point;do you enjoy going women’s clothes shopping with me all day?I know ‘times’ have changed since;however did any of the other O.D.F guys experience a similar situation when it came to dating and drag racing back then?

Excellent post Babycakes, I think I only made that mistake once. It was nonstop, “it’s too noisey, it’s too smelly, it’s too dusty, can we go now!” I guess the clothes shopping analogy works best.

Mater, you’re OK, good sense of humor. I’ll bet you make some good sauce, too. My wife is Italian, and that’s one of the reasons that I’m a little chubby. I know I’m gonna catch it for that remark from several guys, but I don’t care, the girl can cook!! ………………Mikey

Change?…when Terry O’Shea and I went to the Indy nationals in ’69…TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN Fuelers hit the lanes for first round quailifying.The east coast touring guys where all on the end of the season swing, ,heading to the coast ,stopping off at Indy with every other Fueler in the nation at the event.We hung with our new friends Beebe & Mulligan,( got to know them at Dover & followed them to Englishtown)…we were parked next the Mongoose.Did some minor lettering on both cars there ,along with Gene Snow.

I Might have my Indy Stats mixed up….Did some more Research. Terry & I might have gone in ’68….’69 was the year of the Beebe & Mulligan crash and he died 3 weeks later—would have remembered THAT..Also found that 80 fuelers Did enter in ’68 …still a Bunch! with McKewen taking low Et…..my” 217″ figure is always in my memory…will research more.

…..OK I did not work on my car 😀 ,just took it easy and deceided to make some suasage and bean chili with tequila 😀 , …of coause with the rest of the ingredents that make it taste so GOOD 😀 ❗ ….like onions ,garlic,beer ,honey, red beans ,tomato sauce, chili powder cumin, chicken broth ,tomato paste ,tabasco ,chili pepper relish ,white beans ground chuck ,and suasage and olive oil, and some white wine 😯 …..OH and chopped up home grown hot peppers 😀 ….. what did you guys cook today 😀 ❓ ❓
