I wasn’t much into S/Stock ‘factory’ cars, just ‘old school’ gassers; however, they did put on a ‘good’ show, back in ‘there’ time! 🙂 Pete.

I remember seeing Ronnie Sox, Phil Bonner, Malcom Durham, Dave Strickler etc. Plus hometown favorites like Billy Lagana and Doc Burgess. I’m sure I missed a few, my apologies to them. That was a great time those A/FX’s. Good memories.

SS/DA Cuda. A real fun car. Kept us sharp on the lights.

John nice looking car, I’ll bet you ran against Vinnie Tarentola’s (Vitar) Camaro back then.

                            Pat,
Never did. Didn’t even know he had a SS/DA car. He did the trans. and convertor in the Cuda
I ran 4 mph over the NHRA SS/DA mph record at a NHRA WCS meet at San Air, but wouldn’t back it up for fear of losing my Direct Connection parts sponsorship. Qualified #5 out of 46 SS/DA cars Indy Natls” in 1971. I also drove the Hurst Gasser Passer (BB/A Prefect) there that year as well.
I sold the car to Tom Golubuff (Carpet Bagger) in 72′. I ran it on opening day of Dover 73′ for him. Result was 3/10 under NHRA SS/DA ET record.

John it’s funny that sometimes paths cross and other times run parallel to each other. Didn’t know you drove the Hurst Gasser Passer. Someone on the hamb sight has it now.

THE GASSER PASSER IS BACK IN OHIO !!!!

                                        Pat,
Only time I drove it was at the 71′ Indy Natls’.
                                        Maso,
They let that iconic car deteriorate. 🙁 Hope they restore it to original. Thanks for the follow up.

I remember when ‘Ohio’ George built that car to run at the U.S. Nationals, in ’65’ or ’66’, to run in the AA/GS, and it failed in tech inspection as they didn’t buy the floor altercation, if I remember? According to George, it was a wild ride at times, and hard to tame! John I assume you would agree??? George carried on with his ’33’ Willys, having much success with Ford supplying him with there 427 ‘Cammer’ Pete.

Pat D. correct me if I’m wrong? Vinne’s ’69’ Copo was up for sale on the auction block, for a couple of 100 g’s, a few years ago, having a frame up restoration? I remember ‘Jersey city Joe’ Spino, had a Copo ’69’ also, that he ran, besides Vinnie Tarantola. Vinnie was a ‘super’ sharp racing trans. builder, one of the ‘best’!!!….Pete.

That is correct although the price and when it sold I do not remember.

That car handled well for me (I guess I was used to my AA/GS Anglia). It had a clutch-flyte trans when I drove it.
