Great answer.Great info.Thanks. 🙂
The engine that was in the Mustang during the last Dover race and removed because of the coolant leak is now going back together. The head had a pin hole in exhaust port of the #2 cylinder, it was welded, new guide, new seat and than pressure tested. Got the head gaskets yesterday and now we are cleaning all the parts for reassembly.
Tom check this out 😮 😮 😮 I thought it was yours when I first say it 😆 😆 😆 130591635150 on E-bay

Pat and Dino…..Interesting Mustang, similar look.
When I first saw your post I though you were referring to the 55 gasser. We have been looking for my old 55 but no leads have turned up and since Bryan told us he has a good color picture of the old car we have been inspired. We have been checking around looking for a car to clone the 55 we raced at Dover so many years ago. Thought it would be super to clone the car and bring it to next years race. But so far nothing reasonable has turned up. Some of the local car show guys have said there are some 55 gassers around and they are helping us look.
Tom,what a ‘teaser’ just seeing the completed engine for your ’55’! NICE! I know it’s gonna be a while for the body; so please keep us updated as you go along on completion, thanks for sharing!
So much talk about the Gasser …how’s the Mustang? ‘retired’?
…..WOW ❗ 😀 motor looks GREAT ❗ just like a “GASSER” motor should ❗ that will be real cool in your “clone” 55 DOVER CAR ❗ 😀 , ………….. mustang 😕 ❓ what mustang ❓
Mustang not retired. Not much changed on it because of all time being spent on the 55 Chevy. We take the Mustang out once or twice a week. We drive it to car shows in the local area. We usually stay within a 30 mile range so we have some money left to work on the 55 Chevy. It is easy to use up some fuel with 1300 hp under the hood.
Some of the tubing is cut, fitted and tacked together.
The cold air package is complete. The pictures are of the parts as they were done or in the process.
The parts are the firewall to isolate the filter, the inlet tube and the completed system from the top and from the inside.
The picture from the inside has a template that was started but not used in the finished system.
Well, it looks like you are taking weight off the front end of the Mustang. Seriously, it looks pretty good. ………….Mikey
