Brother Bobby here. Billy is home now but very weak. The operation was a big success and he seems to be healing well. He has to go back on Wednesday to meet with a ENT specialist who will hopefully perform an out-patient procedure that might bring his voice back.
When I left him last evening, he had dozed off watching V Bob’s great DVD on the formal presentation of Super Pumpkin VII. He was so pleased, but it had been a very long day and he was loaded up with Oxycodone (woo-hoo) which isn’t helping his stomach. The most important things for Billy to do right now are stay hydrated and start bulking up; a difficult goal when you feel sick as hell.
Hackettstown is still his goal and if he can climb in and out of a car, he WILL be there. That’s the motivation that must be kept in front of him so he that he will continue to reach for the water jug and ice cream.
Sister Judy with her husband will be visiting there today and probably stay while the visiting nurse changes the massive bandage. Billy loves their company; especially after a week of me. I’ll be going up there on Wednesday to take him to Boston. Let’s here it for XM Radio’s “50’s on 5”. That really picks up his spirits as the Buick flies up I-95.
On behalf of Billy’s family, I thank you all for your good wishes and prayers. We all know how much it means. YOU ALL are his motivation to continue to fight the fight.
Glad to hear that he’s on the mend. I’m looking forward to seeing him at Island, hopefully. I have not seen him in person since the mid 70s. We were not what you might call friends, but we talked at the track(Dover) occasionally, and he was one of my “hero’s”. More prayers are on the way. …………Mikey 😆
